How Do Dow Futures Work

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is the top market on Wall Street.Dow created this market in 1986 and he wanted to make sense of daily market trends and overall patterns.  Dow began tracking the trading patterns of eleven companies.Thirty of the well-known companies in the world are held by Dow today.  You will recognize companies like Disney, Coca Cola, IBM, General Motors, Exxon and Microsoft.These organizations are traded in the Stock Exchange of New York City from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm eastern time five days a week.

The futures market and stock exchange are separate but have some sort of connection.The trade of Dow Futures Market begins at 7:20am central time in Chicago.Futures Market opens an hour earlier so as to give the instructors a clue of the day’s position before the stock market actually opens.The stock trading is related to future trading such that if future trading is up then the stock trading is also expected to be up.

Futures are actually contracts between two teams which agree to interchange money when deliberate conditions are fulfilled.  Dow Futures are always traded on an exchange.This means that the investors drive into acknowledged relationships with the exchange.Once the terms of the contract are met, the contract is closed.

One benefit that you get for trading on the exchange rather than companies is that the exchange is consistently under observation to make sure that it can sustain its end of bargain.This shortens the accountability investors must face when investing.The trade done by the exchange should be fair and in real assets which would protect the investors from false thinking.

The edge that the futures market gives is that the investors earn more and lose less than they would on stock market alone.Dow Futures market uses the strategy of ten to one basis.This can be analyzed such that a one point increase is worth ten dollars for the investor.

Futures contracts are marked to market, which means that all the variations in value are written in the investors account at the end of each day until the contract finishes.The Dow multiplier multiplies the amount by ten so if an investor buys Dow Futures contracts then the Dow gain of 100 points gives the investor 00 at the close of the day.
Dow e-mini index Futures is cheap which makes it so popular among the investors.  At only per full point move, this market is much more forgiving than other e-mini markets that can cost as much as .00 per point move.

But don’t let that make you fall into some false sense of security.This market requires constant risks.So it attracts the beginners as well as the professional traders.

Because the index and the futures contracts are so closely related, the futures contracts are used to gauge the direction the stock market is likely to move, and therefore has great influence on the trading of Dow stocks.
